A survey by coupon website CouponBirds found parents and teachers across the country expected to spend more on school supplies in 2025 than they did in 2024.

The average amount nationwide that parents planned to spend on back-to-school shopping was $774 per child in 2025, up 10% from $701 per child in 2024. At the same time, teachers expected to spend an average of $1,021 of their own money on classroom supplies, up 12% from $915 in 2024.
