An ex BBC star shared his new look with fans as he took to Instagram to show off his beard over the weekend. 

The radio DJ, who became the longest serving breakfast presenter on Radio 1 back in 2009, shared a selfie with fans while wearing a grey beanie hat and black glasses. 

He captioned the post: ‘So I grew a beard. Should I keep it?’ and was met with resounding positivity from his 420,000 followers. 

The star joined Radio 1 back in July 1997, and began presenting the breakfast show in 2004, gaining an extra one million listeners in his first quarter.

He has faced his fair share of controversies over the years – from tax avoidance to warnings from Ofcom.

And fans and friends have gone wild for the new look as they shared their compliments in the comments. 

Anthea Turner penned: ‘Not normally a beard loving girl but it’s a really good one and beautifully groomed. A keeper from me’. 

Meanwhile fellow presenter Jake Humphrey joked: ‘Thought I was following George Clooney on insta for a moment…’

BBC presenter Mike Bushell added: ‘Looking majestic like the master in the old Dr Who’. 

Chris currently hosts The Chris Moyles show on Radio X at 6:30am until 10am on weekdays, and from 8am to 10am on Saturdays. 

He appeared on the 2022 series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here where he discussed his impressive six stone weight loss. 

Admitting microwavable kebabs were once part of his diet, the radio DJ told his campmates he decided to turn his life around when he was struggling to train for his Comic Relief charity climb up Mount Kilimanjaro in 2009.

The radio DJ decided to turn his life around when he was struggling to train for his Comic Relief charity climb up Mount Kilimanjaro in 2009

When asked what motivated him, he told ITV newsreader and Loose Women anchor Charlene White, ‘A mixture of things. I climbed Kili [Mount Kilimanjaro]. I was 17.5 stone at Christmas and we were climbing in March.

‘I got down to 16 [before we went]. Climbed Kili and lost a stone in a week.

‘I sat at 15 [stone] for ages and I had a trainer, and one day I just went, “It’s a waste of time this training, I’m not losing any weight” and he just barked at me, “That’s because your diet’s s***!”

‘So we had a big chat… I fell down to 12 stone really quickly. 10 years ago [that was].’

Hollyoaks star Owen Warner, 23, told him: ‘Come on, you’re better than that!’, to which Chris replied: ‘From what I remember it tasted alright. But back then I was eating all sorts of c**p.’

He added: ‘I didn’t necessarily eat a lot but what I did eat was all bad. All bad.’
