The practice involves taking low doses of obesity drugs such as Wegovy and Ozempic to lose just enough weight to fit into a designer gown – but not so much that they look gaunt. 

Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr Babak Azizzadeh said: ‘Celebrities use these medications to lose a few pounds and fit into an outfit and not look puffy.’

But the pharmaceutical industry and doctors have warned against using the powerful medications – originally developed to treat obese patients with type 2 diabetes.

Fellow plastic surgeon Dr Kelly Killeen added: ‘Until we can be assured that bouncing on and off these medicines is not causing people harm, I don’t support it.’
