Freddy Brazier has revealed that he was sectioned amid mental health struggles and claimed grandmother Jackiey Budden got him hooked on drugs aged just 12.
The 20-year-old son of Jeff Brazier and the late Jade Goody told fans in June that he has been addicted to smoking from a young age and would be heading to rehab, before making a shock U turn, shortly after he was seen puffing suspicious cigarettes with his gran.
Now speaking on the A Load Of Old Cobblers podcast Freddy said while he didn’t try drugs for the first time with his grandmother Jackiey, 68, she was ‘definitely the person’ who got him addicted.
‘No it wasn’t with my Nan [the first time] although my Nan is definitely the person who introduced me to reefer and got me hooked. It’s one of those things, I was 12’.
He continued: ‘I’ve been smoking since I was 12, I’ve been to rehab, I’ve been sectioned, I’ve had manic episodes, I’ve been sectioned. There’s been a real journey and it’s been a tough one’.
Freddy also claimed that he had spent years fearful that Jackiey would end her life if he did ‘prioritise’ their relationship, amid her ongoing feud with his father Jeff.

In a preview of the podcast, which is released September 1, Freddy said: ‘I feel like if I didn’t prioritise the relationship with my mum’s mum Jackiey, and I didn’t feel like I had to be around for her, I was scared that if I wasn’t, she’d kill herself.’
Adding: ‘And I had that in my head for so long to the point where I pushed my dad away and I would stay at my nan’s for months, go on mad ones.’
In June, Freddy was seen puffing with his Gran in front of tourists near Tower Bridge in South London, after Mail On Sunday revealed he had had been living with his Nan.
He cut a casual figure in a burgundy top and beige shorts while Jackie wore her own joggers rolled up to her knees and sported bandages on her hands, with onlookers telling The Sun that she was ‘acting erratically’.
He later announced on Instagram that he was going to a rehabilitation centre in Spain and was keen to seek treatment.
He said: ‘I’ve been smoking from the age of 12 and it’s time to stop it was a bad coping mechanism that turned into an addiction something I relied on and something that made me feel sane and somewhat okay.’
But days after the admission, Freddy posted again online saying he had changed his mind, writing: ‘You know what I don’t need rehab. I just need a holiday with a good group of boys or a retreat.’
Freddy lost his mother, former Big Brother star Jade, to cervical cancer in 2009 when he was just four years old.

The late Jade opened up about Jackiey’s addiction in her autobiography (pictured on Celebrity Big Brother in 2007)
It was previously revealed that Jeff had set up a court date to stop Freddy from seeing his grandmother, amid rising concerns over his well-being.
And it appears Jeff and Freddy have patched things up as he admitted he is ‘grateful forgiveness is a thing’ and also shared his gratitude for his father.
He wrote: ‘I’m so grateful. Grateful for my dads advice, grateful that forgiveness is a thing, grateful that I got to see someone important to me, grateful for my boys.’
Jeff has long insisted Jackiey is a bad influence on the troubled youngster – with the pair enduring a series of very public disputes over the years.
The late Jade opened up about her Jackiey’s addiction in her autobiography Catch A Falling Star and said that she smoked a deadly amount of crack cocaine in front of her mum, in a desperate bid to encourage her to give up drugs.
‘I decided to show [Jackiey] how nasty and heartbreaking it was to see a member of your family – your own flesh and blood – killing themselves in front of your eyes,’
She wrote how the experience left her feeling ‘dirty and disgusting’ before she vomited and locked herself in her room for days.
‘I couldn’t even smoke it all, it made me feel too ill. I ran to the toilet, stuck my fingers down my throat and made myself sick, and sick, and sick,’
However despite her best efforts the star claimed her drastic actions had no effect on Jackiey and her addiction.
Jade’s father was also addicted to drugs and died from a suspected heroin overdose in 2005 aged 42.

Jeff reportedly dropped his legal case against Jade Goody’s mum Jackiey Budden. It was previously revealed that Jeff had set up a court date to stop Freddy from seeing his Jackiey, amid rising concerns over his well-being (pictured with Bobby)

During his appearance on BBC’s Celebrity Race Across the World, Freddy spoke on the grief he has suffered following his mother’s tragic passing.
He said: ‘I don’t really remember being held by my mum… if I had more memories with her, it would have made it a whole lot harder for me, but I think I would rather that than not remembering the things I had done with my mum.’
In June shared a now-deleted TikTok post about his mental health, featuring personal photos of himself with his brother Bobby and late mum Jade, alongside a series of captions about his state of mind.
The video, set to the heartbreaking audio of Ricky Gervais’ character expressing his sadness in a scene from his Netflix show After Life, Freddy’s video included statements from the audio which included: ”I feel sad all the time. I’m not the person I was!’
‘I lost most of me and all the good stuff, all the happiness enjoying, I feel like I’m nothing you know?’
‘People think I’m sort of OK you know? Like, I’m getting on with it, I’m snarky now and get, and this is a lapse. But it’s not! This is me all the time now. I’m not well but I remember what it was like to be normal so I do an impression of that.’
‘But this is what I really am and I want to be normal again. But I’m weak you know?’
Captioning his post, Freddy penned: ‘As a man, I bottle up my emotions and hide my feelings away. I rarely let them out to play. Feelings are being felt and thoughts are being heard and played out.’
He then asked his male followers how they were mentally and urged them to speak out about how they felt and what was ‘hurting them’.
His post was met with a plethora of supportive messages from fans.
Freddy also reportedly skipped his brother Bobby’s birthday bash amid his feud with dad Jeff over his relationship with grandmother Jackiey.

In March Freddy revealed he has been diagnosed as bipolar in a candid video about his ‘serious’ mental health
EastEnders star Bobby turned 22 on June 2, and while other loved ones including his father and step-mum Kate were present, his sibling was noticeably absent.
Despite Freddy acknowledging the birthday online, it is said that there was ‘sadness’ felt by the family that Freddy wasn’t there to celebrate in person.
A source told The Sun: ‘It was a really nice family occasion but everyone really missed Freddy.
‘He was of course invited but he is making his feelings quite clear at the moment about who he wants to be spending time with.’
They added: ‘He did acknowledge that Bobby’s birthday online but there was some sadness that he wasn’t there with his brother.’
