Details of the Discovery

According to DCP South-East Bengaluru, Sarah Fathima, the body was discovered in a suitcase, sparking immediate concern and investigation. The police have sent the body for post-mortem to determine the cause of death and gather further evidence.

This case follows closely on the heels of another shocking murder in Bengaluru, where a 29-year-old woman, Mahalakshmi, was found dismembered and stored in a refrigerator in her apartment in Malleshwaram.

Investigation Underway

The Bengaluru police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Guri’s death, with a focus on determining whether this is a case of murder or if other factors were involved.

Given the recent history of similar crimes in Bengaluru, the authorities are taking a cautious approach to ensure that all angles are covered during the investigation.

Context of Recent Crimes in Bengaluru

Bengaluru has witnessed a series of violent crimes in recent months. A 29-year-old woman named Mahalakshmi was found dismembered and stored in a refrigerator in her Malleshwaram apartment. The police identified a prime suspect from Odisha, who was believed to be hiding in West Bengal.

In November last year, a techie couple from Bengaluru was arrested for murdering their 15-year-old nanny, Sumaina, who had been working for them. The couple allegedly killed her for eating their child’s food and then concealed her body in a suitcase before dumping it in Tamil Nadu.

In another case, a Bengaluru realtor was allegedly murdered by his wife and mother-in-law over suspected extramarital affairs and illegal business dealings. The body was found abandoned in a car.

Palghar Husband beheads Wife, Throws Body in Drain

On 18 March, Maharashtra Police recovered the body of a 51-year-old murder victim from a drain in Virar city of Palghar district following a four-hour search, five days after her severed head was found in a suitcase.

Police had already arrested the husband of the woman, identified as Utpala Hippargi, for beheading her.

The accused, Harish Hippargi, allegedly strangled Utpala to death during a heated exchange at their home on January 8.

He transported her body near Deshmukh Farm in Virar, where he beheaded her using a sickle. In an attempt to destroy evidence, he threw the headless body into a drain and packed the severed head inside a suitcase, which he later dumped near Pirkunda Dargah, police had said earlier.
