According to CruiseMapper, P&O’s Arvia is on a 14-day cruise to Barbados, set to arrive on Nov. 7. The ship departed Southampton, England, on Oct. 24.
Tracking data for the vessel shows it made an unplanned stop in A Caruña, Spain around Oct. 26.
The Port of A Coruña provided a little more detail on X, writing in a translated post, “Yesterday the Arvia made a stop in A Coruña following a workplace accident involving a deceased crew member. It remained docked from 3 p.m. until night, when it set sail for Tenerife.”
According to P&O’s website, the Arvia can hold about 5,200 guests and 1,800 crew members on board the 345-meter-long ship. The vessel includes 30 bars and restaurants, eight entertainment venues, four swimming pools and 15 guest decks.
In a separate incident, on Oct. 18, a guest on board a cruise ship docked in Cannes, France, was found unresponsive, according to a local outlet.
Nice-Matin reported a 61-year-old English passenger died during a Mediterranean cruise. The body was found while the boat was stationed off the Croisette — a famous street in the city — near the Lérins Islands on Saturday, Oct. 18.
According to the outlet, the on board medical doctor attempted to resuscitate the woman for about 30 minutes.
Crews contacted local police, who then boarded the ship via an inflatable boat in order to bring the body back to the mainland. Per the local outlet, the coroner determined the death was not suspicious — citing a likely heart attack.
