US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Wednesday (October 15) warned that Washington and its allies are prepared to take further action against Russia if the war in Ukraine continues.

Speaking at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Hegseth said, “The United States and its allies will take the steps necessary to impose costs on Russia for its continued aggression.”

US ‘stands ready’ to act

The defense chief underscored that the US War Department is fully prepared to support any new measures required to deter Moscow.

“If we must take this step, the U.S. War Department stands ready to do our part in ways that only the United States can do,” Hegseth said.
