A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the April 7 armed robbery at an M&T Bank in the Town of Sweden, where nearly half a million dollars was stolen.

Michael O’Shea, 60, of Rochester, was taken into custody on April 15 by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Unit. He is charged with first-degree robbery, a felony, and second-degree grand larceny, also a felony. O’Shea was arraigned in CAP Court and is being held at the Monroe County Jail on $75,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond.

Authorities say O’Shea’s arrest follows the earlier arrest of John J. Savage, 49, also of Rochester, who was arrested shortly after the robbery. He faces similar charges and is being held on $50,000 cash or bond.

According to investigators, a masked suspect wearing a reflective vest entered the M&T Bank on Fourth Section Road, displayed a handgun, forced everyone into the women’s restroom, and stole $452,600 after ordering the manager to open the safe. He fled in a blue Honda Civic.

Thanks to a tip from a citizen who spotted a suspicious vehicle on Lake Road in Hamlin, deputies located the getaway car and recovered a large portion of the stolen money, police said. Evidence linked both suspects to the robbery, police said.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating and is asking anyone with video or information about the incident to call 911 or email mcsotips@monroecounty.gov.
