A blue spiral seen in the night sky across Europe on March 24 was likely caused by a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, the UK’s Met Office said.
Footage from Jamie McBean shows the spiral in the sky over Herne Bay, England.
The Met Office said the spiral was likely caused by the rocket’s frozen exhaust plume, which appeared to be spinning in the atmosphere and reflecting light, creating the spiral effect. Credit: Jamie McBean via Storyful
