Music megastar Taylor Swift and NFL superstar Travis Kelce have just gotten engaged, and the news has already broken the internet.
In a post on Instagram at 1 pm ET Tuesday, Swift revealed that the celebrity power couple were officially getting married.
‘Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,’ the couple wrote next to several photos of the proposal in a joint post.
In just over two hours, the post has already received more than 14.5 million likes.
The announcement has drawn so much attention that it’s actually crashed the social media platform for many users.
Instagram users haven’t even been able to load their likes as there are too many for the system to process currently.
The reaction has even flooded over to other social media networks, like X, where the news received mixed reviews from people who already had Swift-Kelce fatigue long before the announcement crashed their favorite sites.
This isn’t the first time the couple have set records online. The two set a Guinness World Record on August 13 for ‘the most concurrent views for a podcast on YouTube,’ when Swift appeared on her new fiancé’s New Heights podcast.

According to Guinness World Records, the episode received 1.3 million views that day and more than 20 million views by the time of the recording-breaking announcement on August 26.
The veteran tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs was seen getting down on one knee and presenting Swift, a 14-time Grammy Award winner, with an engagement ring in a flower-filled garden.
According to Page Six, the sparkling ring was designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.
‘Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s post literally crashed Instagram,’ one person on X posted while sharing a picture of the empty likes list on the couple’s post.
Another person noted how the shocking engagement on a Tuesday afternoon caught her fans and countless others off guard.
‘HER INSTAGRAM FEED IS BROKEN NOBODY SAW THIS COMING,’ the person declared on X.
The two stars began dating two years ago and have had both music and sports fans speculating on when a proposal from Kelce would come.
It was widely predicted that the Super Bowl-winning athlete might pop the question after each of the last two championship games, since the Chiefs played in both.

Kelce and Swift have been dating since the summer of 2023. She has attended the last 2 Super Bowls the Chiefs played in

The announcement on Instagram crashed the social media platform, keeping users from loading the likes on Swift’s post
However, Kelce saved the moment for the eve of the 2025-2026 season, with his team’s first game scheduled for September 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The news hasn’t come as a pleasant surprise to everyone, however, as many sports fans on social media voiced their frustration with getting smartphone alerts from both sports media sites and gambling apps.
‘Bro even FanDuel sent an alert about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift engagement, like d**** we get it!’ one fan on X wrote.
‘Why is the ESPN Fantasy Football app telling me about the Kelce/Swift engagement… why?’ another annoyed X user asked.
‘Dear ESPN, I didn’t care about the Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce relationship this entire time, I didn’t need an engagement alert on my phone,’ another person fumed.
