Mimi Chakraborty summoned by Enforcement Directorate in illegal betting app case

The Enforcement Directorate has summoned actors Urvashi Rautela and Mimi Chakraborty in connection with its probe into an alleged money laundering case linked to an illegal betting app. While former MP Mimi Chakraborty has been summoned on September 15, actor Urvashi Rautela would be questioned by the law enforcement agency the next day, on September 16.

In a statement, officials said, “The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Actress and former MP Mimi Chakraborty on 15th September and Actress Urvashi Rautela on 16th in the illegal betting app 1xbet case. They have been asked to appear at the Delhi headquarters.”

Earlier on September 4, former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan arrived New Delhi headquarter of the agency where he was questioned for around eight hours in the alleged illegal betting app-linked money laundering case.

The agency recorded his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) as part of this investigation linked to an “illegal” betting app named 1xBet, the sources said. The 39-year-old former India opener is understood to have been linked to the app through certain endorsements.

Last month, former cricketer Suresh Raina was questioned in this case by the federal probe agency. More such sportspersons and celebrities are expected to be questioned by the agency in the coming days.
