A 43-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after two children were found dead at a home.
Police were called to the property on Corporation Street, Stafford, at around 7.30am today by the ambulance service.
They tragically discovered two children dead at the scene and the woman was arrested on suspicion of murder.
The woman, who is from Stafford, remains in custody and police say they ‘don’t believe there is a wider threat to the public at this time’.
Officers from Staffordshire Police say the childrens’ next of kin have been informed and they are receiving assistance by specially-trained officers.
The ages of the children have not yet been confirmed by the force, who have launched a probe into what caused their tragic deaths.
Detective Inspector Kirsty Oldfield asked that ‘people do not speculate at this stage’ as it may hinder their enquiries and distress the affected’s family and friends.
The street has been cordoned by police as they investigate the scene.

DI Oldfield said: ‘We are working hard to understand more about what happened leading up to these two children tragically losing their lives.
‘We ask that people do not speculate at this stage as it is distressing for family and friends and could hinder our enquiries.
‘We understand that this incident may cause concern in the local community. We don’t believe there is wider threat to the public at this time.
‘A cordon is currently in place at a home on Corporation Street.’
